Dear Parents and/or Guardians,   

Welcome to a new year at Thomas A. Edison Middle School!  I will be your child’s teacher for 7th Grade Health / Life Science. The success of student learning depends on the cooperation and communication between the student, teacher, and parent.  The following information regarding rules and classroom procedures will help your child to have a successful year.

Estimados Padres,

Bienvenidos al nuevo año escolar de la Escuela Intermedia de Thomas A. Edison!  Yo seré la maestra de su hijo/a de Salud y Ciencias.  La prosperidad del aprendizaje del estudiante depende de la cooperación y comunicación entre el estudiante, maestro, y padre.  La siguiente información referente a las reglas y procedimientos del salón le ayudaran a su hijo/a tener un año próspero.

Health Topics - Fall Semester (Aug. - Dec.)

Supplies and Materials / Ăštiles y Materiales

 large 3-ring binder, dividers, white college  paper, 2 glue sticks, a composition notebook (college rule), color pencils, 2 pencils with erasers, and 2 pens (black or blue ink). 

They will receive a Teen Health textbook for the Fall Semester and a Life Science textbook for the Spring Semester.  These textbooks should be kept at home until the end of each semester.  Textbooks will be available for use in the classroom.  Students/Parents are required to pay for lost or damaged textbooks.

Grading / Calificaciones

Your child’s academic grades will be determined by given assignments, projects, and assessments that will be scored against a rubric based on the following:

90-100% A,

80-78% B,

77-68% C,

67-48% D

anything below 47%, your child will be in danger of failing.  Work Habits and Cooperation grades are based on the criteria found in the student planner on page 13.   All work for this class can be found in the composition notebook unless the assignment is a project.  Please note that report cards are given every five weeks.  The school calendar provides the exact dates.  Call the school if you don’t receive a copy of the report card.
